Chapter 02

Innovative Transformational Packaging

Chapter 02 | Section 01

The Total Package

The launch of Finest Call in 1995 was chiefly defined by the innovative, user-friendly package that is now synonymous with the brand around the world. The concept was a simple one. The time-tested shape of the ubiquitous store-and-pour bottle, a ventilated, directional pour spout, and the standard continuous-thread bottle closure, were all combined into one seamless package.

The Global Gold Standard of Cocktail Mix Packaging

The unique, highly functional design immediately garnered several prestigious awards from the nation’s foremost packaging magazines and industry associations. Food & Drug Magazine and the National Association of Container Distributors both bestowed on it the honor of Food and Beverage Package of the Year. While these types of awards were very much appreciated, the reaction from the bartender community to the package’s functionality is what truly established Finest Call. It became evident early on that the Finest Call package truly helped professional bartenders become better at their craft.

A total of four United States and International patents have been awarded for this bottle-cap combination and it has become the global gold standard of cocktail mix packaging. So much so that imitators have invested millions of dollars in legal fees and engineering costs to work around the patents. At last count, at least 8 brands have introduced or attempted to introduce packaging with a striking resemblance to Finest Call. If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, the entire Finest Call team is proud of the positive impact that the brand and its package have had within the category.

The Cap

The exclusive Finest Call dispensing closure was designed specifically to address the needs of professional bartenders. The essence of the device is an air vent placed in close proximity and on the same plane as a main orifice in such a manner that it serves to allow a free, uninterrupted product flow. This co-planar proximity of the two orifices is vital in order for the bartender to be able to close the bottle quickly and in one motion.

Currently, the closure comes in three distinct orifice sizes which serve to regulate flow based on the nature and application of each product.

The resulting closures, known as the Full-Pour, Control-Pour and Liquor-Pour have been rigorously tested to guarantee optimal performance behind the bar.

Yellow Finest Call Full-Pour dispensing closure

Full-Pour

  • The largest orifice for the thickest mixes
  • Fully ventilated for a smooth, uniform flow
  • Great for pouring thick, viscous, fruit-intensive mixes with or without particulates
  • 69% larger than the Control-Pour closure
Green Finest Call Control-Pour dispensing closure

Control-Pour

  • The perfect size to regulate the flow of thinner products such as juices and juice-based cocktail mixes
  • Modeled after the traditional store-and-pour container, this orifice will restrict the product flow just enough to allow total control
  • 41% smaller than the Full-Pour and 2.59 times larger than the Liquor-Pour

Liquor-Pour

  • Perfect for syrups or any mixes that are typically poured 1-2 ounces at a time
  • This closure was designed based on the flow characteristics of the traditional liquor pourer
  • The pouring area is 61% smaller than the Control-Pour and 77% smaller than the Full-Pour

The most recent closure patent awarded to Finest Call is for the exclusive lock-free ventilation system which is guaranteed to prevent product lock-ups 99.9% of the time. The lock-free technology essentially consists of a vent inside of a vent covered by an oval splash guard which ensures the air’s continuous passage through the closure. This allows the world’s top bartenders to work, confident in the knowledge that a violent or exceptionally quick pour, will not stop up the liquid and cost precious time. Finest Call is designed with the professional bartender in mind.

The dispensing closures come in many distinct colors, which ensures that the products are easy to differentiate behind a busy bar. The non-slip ridge right above the handle area makes sure that wet hands don’t cause dropped bottles or messy spills in the heat of the action.

The Finest Call package represents the most aerodynamically advanced store-and-pour package in the industry. American Beverage Marketers is committed to maintaining this technological superiority going forward and believes it is a key factor in the brand’s leadership worldwide.
